Summary/Abstract: The 1960s and 1970s were a time when Boncho Bochev's conducting method and his approaches to Bodra Smyana became a model for the development of children's choirs in Bulgaria. His method was sustainably developed owing to concerts given across the country, participations in Radio Sofia's programmes, recordings, inclusion in music textbooks for students. Young conductors learned from Boncho Bochev how to organise training, select repertoires, vocal work and sound emission. Bodra Smyana’s model has been adopted in the practice of various musical centres and even schools, but the focus of this paper is put on four children's choirs: Dobrich Choir with conductor Zahari Mednikarov, the choir in Burgas with conductor Milka Stoeva, the Varna Boys and Youth Choir with conductor Marin Choonev and Druzhna Pesen Sliven Choir with conductor Metodi Matakiev.
