Summary/Abstract: This paper seeks to trace the text-image relationship, borrowings, reworking, authorships and copying. Nikolay Pavlovich’s archives keep draw-ings ro Ludwig Tieck’s drama Genoveva. The article presupposes that Pavlovich has used illustrations to Genoveva as a basis for his Rayna, Bulgarian Princesslithographic series. The origins of the series are traced. The extent of reworking, borrowing, drawing on and other creative tasks are examined by comparing the analyses of the drawings for Genoveva by the Riepenhausen brothers, and of Rayna, Bulgarian Princess series. The etchings by Austrian artist of Czech origin, Josef von Führich to Genoveva and their copies made by his student at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts Nikolay Pavlovich are analysed together with their transformation in Rayna lithograph series to become a romantic expression of the national idea.
