RESEARCH ON PUBLICATIONS DEDICATED TO TEACHERS IN NEAMT COUNTY IN THE XXTH CENTURY. CASE STUDY – LITERARY AND DIDACTICAL REVIEW „THE APOSTLE”

Summary/Abstract: fter the Great Union in 1918, România, within the planitude of the borders in theinterbellic period, developped in a democratic frame, insured by the monarchical political regime. Inthe same generous frame, developped the historical region of Neamt as well. A very important role inthis direction, in the towns and mainly in the villages bore the primary school teachers. In addition toto the educational role upon the Romanion nation, which had a high percent of illiteracy compared tothe rest of Europe, the primary school teachers also had the role to offer a life model to the inhabitantsof their communities. Thus, in the interbellic period, the teachers took care of the culture of the people,having civilising initiatives, founding cultural centres, libraries, economy houses, pharmacies,associations, wrote local reviews, teaching works and others. The regislative context was extremelyfavourable, sometimes forced culturalising being imposed, such as, for example, the forms of childrenand youth organising in Romania, especially after 1938. An initiative which would become historicwithin times was the founding, in November 1934 at Piatra-Neamt, of one of the most longevivedidactical reviews in Neamt, probably in Romania, the Literary and Didactical Review „THEAPOSTLE” which several years in a row had an easily recognasible cover, a drawing which simplyrepresented school: a teacher dressed in popular clothing, reading to a group of children who werealso dressed in pipular costumes, on a hill, in the middle of nature. Not only was The Literary andDidactical Review „The Apostle” an important educational instrument in the era, but also it has beenup to the presnt day, becoming an historical source for research of the school-related situation in theinterbellic period, in Neamt County. Being drafted and administered by the most prolific personalitiesof the county education, revisors, teachers, opinion leaders in their communities, we have the certitudethat the history uncovered thorugh their articles is one of great relevance for the reality of times.In the case study realised following the research of the first numbers in the archive of The Literary andDidactical Review „The Apostle” (1934-1938), we disclose to our readers important infomation aboutthe forms of organisation adopted by the Romanian educational system in order to eradicate illiteracyand to ensure a social civilising educatio
