Summary/Abstract: The present text focuses on the performances of Shinsaku Noh plays in Bulgaria. Performances such as The Circle of Water and Orpheus by Akihiro Yamamoto and performed by Yamamoto Nogaku-do Theatre with the special participation of Bulgarian performers, have taken place in Bulgaria since 2011, therefore they are relatively new phenomenon in our country. The present paper will also explore the contribution of the performances of Shinsaku Noh plays to the multifaceted process of reception of Japanese traditional theatre in Bulgaria. The text is based on: publications, archives, correspondence; interviews taken by the author with Japanese and Bulgarian members of the creative crew. The author will also present her own thoughts and insights, based on the rehearsal process of Shinsaku Noh plays.
