Summary/Abstract: The following paper can be seen as an attempt to answer the question: why materialism was quite unpopular among Maiorescu’s disciples, in spite of the fact that the late 19th and early 20th century was a period of significant innovation in experimental psychology, physiology and brain research. An important proof against materialism found in Ion Petrovici will be revealed and scrutinized in order to uncover its origin and background.
