Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the history of research in the field of music and media at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad. Starting from an outlook on experiences from this field, acquired by other universities, as well as the analyses of curricula from a few foreign institutions and the features they have in common, the paper emphasizes the circumstances that enabled the beginning of academic inquiry into the field of music and media in Novi Sad, first as an elective course on all levels of study, and later as a master course. The final segment of the article contains a review of student productions, and offers an analysis of the results so far. The aim of the paper is to point to the development of research into this rather young area in a local context, and offer an insight into the strategies of implementation of a new curriculum at the level of master studies. These experiences could be useful for the further expansion of the discipline.
