Summary/Abstract: The introduction to this article discusses the problem of energy efficiency and environmental pollution, the concept of cogeneration, its advantages and disadvantages, as well as its contribution to reducing emissions. The difference between cogeneration and micro cogeneration is also discussed, as well as the analysis of the current situation and perspective in B&H regarding cogeneration. The introduction also describes a residential building in the city of Sarajevo for which a micro cogeneration system will be dimensioned for the purpose of producing electricity and heat.In the second chapter, analyzes of outdoor ambient air temperatures for the city of Sarajevo are performed and all possible systems from which thermal energy can be generated for various facilities in the Sarajevo Canton are considered. Then, the calculation of heat losses for the selected residential building is given, as well as the factors that most influence the needs of thermal energy. In the third chapter, the results are obtained, i.e. a diagram of the daily consumption of thermal energy for the selected residential building. Based on this diagram and the heat load duration curve (LDC curves), the rated power of the micro cogenerator was determined. The operation of the micro cogeneration system is described here and its functional scheme is given. In the end, the mode of operation of that system was determined, i.e. the thermal power of the system will work at a given moment and the economic analysis which proves the profitability of the micro cogeneration system.
