Summary/Abstract: In this paper we analyse comparative clauses that complete verbs with incomplete meaning in the novel Đakon Bogorodičine crkve by Isidora Sekulić. In the introduction we speak more about these verbs and their classification in grammar books, whereas the central part of the paper is dedicated to the description of grammatical features of these clauses and their individual semantic specificities are pointed out. The greatest part of the paper is dedicated to comparative clauses besides the semi-copulative verbs izgledati and činiti se. In the conclusion facts are given about the frequency of individual verbs whose complement is a comparative clause.
