Summary/Abstract: The article presents the latest monographic study by Beata Rycielska, Języki słowiańskie w świetle lingwistyki kognitywnej. Studium przypadków, published in 2020 by the respected publishing house Księgarnia Akademicka in Kraków. The researcher is well recognized in the Slavic scholarly community. Her book is comparative and transdisciplinary in nature, distinguished by its cognitive, semiotic, cultural, anthropocentric, and sociological approaches. The monograph work addresses issues related to the categorization of the world in the context of Ronald W. Langacker’s network model. By juxtaposing Russian and Polish, the author discusses prefixal affixes, a reflexive morpheme, a preposition in phrases with an accusative and locative, and the category of the dative in impersonal constructions with a reflexive verb. She also examines selected conceptual categories, taking into account the theory of conceptual metaphor, based on the literary works of Russian and Polish authors and their translations. The article presents the scientific, didactic and methodological values of this valuable book which presents and systematizes knowledge in the field of universal cognitive values in an innovative way.
