Summary/Abstract: When literary scholars discuss the issues of history of literature, the discussion is usually centred on the ways of moving the discipline forward. The task of historians is to introduce new interpretations of the past, and, to that end, constantly redefine what constitutes a meaningful past and what are the methods best suited to construct a new historical understanding of literature.
