Summary/Abstract: Literary historiography is facing a crisis. This is something it has long been aware of. The krísis of literary historiography means that it stands in judgment itself, that it sets out itself for distinction: self-judgment and self-distinction. In their endeavours to separate their projects from traditional literary historiography, literary historians have, especially over the last two decades, intensively studied historiography in general – or, rather, its theory, which began to flourish in the second half of the 20th century. Indeed, at times they have paid more attention to the theory of historiography than to their own discipline.
