Summary/Abstract: A piece of work titled Dîvânü Lügâti’t-Türk by Mahmud Kashgari is of great importance for studying lexicographical tradition and grammar of Turkic languages and dialects because, in the first place, it is one of the first encyclopedic philological works in the history of literacy of Turkic nations. This encyclopedic philological work integrates all the peculiarities of Turkic languages in the 11th century. Therefore, this piece of work by Kashgari can be characterized as a common language treasure of all Turkic nations. The primary goal of this paper is to analyze grammatical and semantical structures of the denominal derivative suffix -lIk in Dîvânü Lügâti’t-Türk. The analysis of the grammatical and semantical structures of the denominal derivative suffix -lIk is based on concrete contextual examples from this encyclopedic work by Mahmud Kashgari. Apart from contributing greatly to the study of the lexicographical tradition and grammar of Turkic languages, an analysis like this should contribute to a better understanding and knowledge of the word formation using suffixes in Turkic languages.
