Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to the prominent personality of the Romanian culture of the first half of the nineteenth century, Petrache Poenaru (1799-1875). He was a great educator of his timer, Romanian bibliographer, inventor, founder of the Romanian school, a fighter for social and national justice, a member of the Romanian Academy.
