Summary/Abstract: The keynote paper of Csaba Zahorán examines the role and possibilities of historians and historiographies in the region with regard to Trianon in the triangle of history writing, politics and everyday life. On the occasion of the centenary of the end of World War I, and focussing primarily on the period following the changes of 1989-90, the author explores the phenomenon of Trianon, which determined the relations between Hungary and her neighbours, and in some way concerns everyone in the region, while emphasising the importance of dialogue and the need to somehow settle the problem.
