The ideological orchestration of the National Identity: The Legion of the Archangel Michael

Summary/Abstract: During the inter-war period the antisemitic movement of far right, Legiunea Arhanghelului Mihail, ideologically orchestrated the aspects of national identity. The religions themes of man’s relation with God as: trust in God, the moral behavior an amelioration, The Resurrection, The Salvation were turned into essential means of propaganda and political action regarding gaining political power. Hence the New Man resulted from this self-improvement was meant to: replace the elite of the corrupted politicians; to oust the Jewish citizens considered intern and extern enemies of the nation; and finally to oust the democratic regime through a singular leading, the single party. Using the national identity in an ideological manner equals with an offer which cannot be critically refused without the risk of being labeled as a traitor of the nation and of being exposed the physical violence as a means of achieving political goals.
