Summary/Abstract: The article deals with ecological transformations in occupied and postwar Warsaw. The September campaign, the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and the Warsaw Uprising had the greatest impact on these transformations, but bombings, fires and combat action also contributed to the degradation of the (natural) space. In just a few years, the urban tissue underwent enormous transformations. Wróbel-Bardzik defines the (post)war ruderal landscape with its two opposing phenomena of destruction and vital processes.
