Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to show the evolution of the Norwegian Navy and the Norwegian maritime doctrine in the context of the protection of state’s interests in the Arctic region. The growing political and economical competition in this region of the world has forced Norway to expand naval power projection capabilities in the far North. What is important, Norwegian security policy is set in the context of highly realistic thinking.
