Summary/Abstract: This article is an attempt to show the state of democracy in the world from a comparative –– temporal and spatial –– perspective. It draws from the six most important rankings of democracies, constructed and published by independent institutions based on research and expert analyzes. The reconstructed reports show that democracy has numerous dimensions and varieties. They also show that we are simultaneously dealing with two processes, aimed at democratization and de-democratization.
