Summary/Abstract: One of the IT systems that are key to the development of the digital public healthcare system in Poland are electronic prescriptions (e-prescription). The process of creating this IT system was lengthy, but as of January 8, 2020, an electronic prescription has become mandatory. SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic forced medical facilities to perform part of their tasks remotely. Pandemic is also a test for the e-prescription system. The example of this IT system will present the process of digitization of the public health care system in Poland. What is an e-prescription and how does it work? How is the e-prescription related to other IT systems in public administration? What is the role of individual healthcare actors who use this system? How does this IT system support the implementation of health policy tasks during a pandemic? Thanks to this, it will be possible to indicate the importance of e-prescriptions in the functioning of the public health care system in Poland and in the process of its digitization.
