Summary/Abstract: Nasiłowska presents the work of Edward Słoński, author of two outstandingly popular poems. Słoński, who ran a dentist’s clinic in Warsaw at the time, wrote on postcards, adding sophisticated graphic art by different artists. In the early twentieth century he had been a graphic artist as well; he had also been editor of the short-lived journal Fala, and he collaborated with other journals. His own artwork and the work of other graphic artists draw on Japanese art, which was in vogue at the time. Słoński’s works have also been set to music and performed as songs. His poems deal with experiences from the beginning of the war. Słoński also worked with Valery Bryusov, who was staying in Warsaw as a Russian press correspondent at the beginning of the war.
