Summary/Abstract: The article first examines the relationship between canon law regulation and liturgical books. It notes the priority given to the general disciplinary framework provided by canon law under the Code of Canon Law, and presents an example of the change that had to be made to the liturgical book of rites of anointing of the sick in order to comply with the new regulation in the Code of Canon Law. The text deals in detail with the liturgical excesses in the celebration of the Eucharist, as described and punished by the instruction Redemptionis sacramentum issued by the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments. It also presents the motu proprio of Benedict XVI Summorum Pontificum, which expanded the use of the traditional Catholic rite according to the Missal last revised by John XXIII in 1962.
