Summary/Abstract: The initial negative thesis of the article says that there will be no end of the world (understood as a sudden and common experience). The positive thesis is: post-apocalypse is a series of local disasters that diversify the lives of surviving beings. Social solidarity networks and the efficiency of public services will be of key importance for survival. According to this understanding, the article discusses novels that fictionalize the consequences of a crisis / disaster. The author proposes a division into three groups: 1) novels showing the collapse of the state (or even supranational structures such as the European Union or Central and Eastern Europe); 2) texts about the birth of a new political form – state of exception democracy - as a response to the climate crisis; 3) the transition from democracy to dictatorship as a result of the instrumental use of climate discourse to increase control over society. As a separate work, the article discusses Salcia Hałas’ poem Potop, which is an example of linguistic self-defense against dominant political discourses.
