Summary/Abstract: The study examines one of the institutions of the medieval papacy, that of the personal chapel of the pontiffs, its members, and the Hungarian connections of the activities of papal chaplains in the High Middle Ages. It was basically by two ways that clerics of the Holy See got into connection with the Hungarian Kingdom or at least with Hungarian-related issues. Some of them emerge as papal delegates in the sources, while others bore the title of papal chaplain or subdean as members of one of the Hungarian churches. This latter category can be further divided into two parts, one containing those persons who gained ecclesiastical office in Hungary through papal support, the other including those clerics who obtained the title of papal chaplain at a given point of their church career, thanks to a particular service.
