Summary/Abstract: Social capital is capital generated through the development of social connections and networks. Social capital is basically the"conective" tissue between the physical and human capital. It incorporate trust, standards and the networking of the individuals which enable for the better functioning of the collective or the society as a whole. Trust in soceity is gained by sharing a system of moral vaules, projected through teh expectations that the others would act in an honest and just way, too. Social capital animates the fact that the collective operates according to the structure it creates. embodied through the realations between people and the networks that they create, i. e. the trust produced as a consistuent element within the realtions and networks. On the one hand, the trust in other people and the trust in the system institutions is reflected through the communications and the establishment of relations with the rest of the individuals from the collective and, on the other hand, by the participation of the established institutional networks. Based on the available empirical data, it is clear that social capital is at a relativly low level of development in the Macedonian society, which is due to the law trust of the citizens in the institutons of the system, in other individuals as wel as in the realtivly poorly developed civil sector.
