Summary/Abstract: A pattern of economic relations between the Soviet Union and the smaller East European members of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (CMEA) was established during the mid-1950s. From that time until the late 1970s, sizeable Soviet deliveries of cheap raw materials supported industrial growth in these small states, while the USSR furnished an insatiable market for their manufactured goods.
