Summary/Abstract: Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) is an approach that has been widely explored during the recent period and has experienced an enormous growth in its first implementations in European educational systems. This new way of teaching and learning has brought content of non-language subjects and language together in the classroom where language is used to learn/teach content and content is used to learn/teach language. Integration of these two is what gives CLIL a strong and remarkable quality which needs to be further improved by good and effective teaching. This paper is primarily focusing on the importance of CLIL teachers and all qualities and competences they need to have in order to fulfil CLIL’s main aims and objectives. Furthermore, the paper provides all information on types of education and qualifications for teachers to have in order to teach in CLIL classrooms. The aim of this paper is to show that it is a teacher’s role that can highly contribute to improvement of this new and innovative approach.
