On the history of Ruse State Opera House and its institutionalisation

Summary/Abstract: The paper traces out the stages in and the path of the amateur music societies in Ruse, Lyre Music Society and Opera Society, toward their professional development that led to the institutionalisation of Ruse People’s Opera House. The processes and persons, who did their best to attain this goal, are accentuated. Commented are the organisational and management regulations for the Opera Society that later served as a basis for the administrative and artistic management of Ruse Opera House, presently, Ruse State Opera House.
