Summary/Abstract: The work of art has undergone major changes over time. The critical analysis specific to the plastic arts demonstrates both a dualism of the role of the work of art and the fact that especially modern and contemporary art is based on an artistic expression that derives from the desire to fulfill a need in the sphere of unconscious. Therefore, it can be concluded that the ontology of the work of art involves, among other things, the transposition of human universality, as an open door to the interior of the artist who tells his biography, a context in which the nature of the art object is closely linked to its artistic dimension and interdisciplinarity, a relationship that makes it possible to materialize.
