Summary/Abstract: Memories, but mostly letters received or sent by the great personalities of the past, uncover, not infrequently, new details about events or forgotten characters. This is the case of the letter sent to Patriarch Miron Cristea Elie (1868–1939), in December 1929, four years after his investiture, by a Romanian student at École des Ponts Paris Tech (the Paris School of Bridges and Roads), Gabriel Dumitriu (born June 24, 1902). Motivation: the poor physical conditions where the young native of Iasi lived, although shortly before, he had become the inventor of a new musical instrument – the “Electromagnetic violin”.
