Legal status of churches and religious organizations de lege lata

Summary/Abstract: This article concentrates on the issue of legal sta­tus of churches and religious organizations in the cu­rrently valid law. These subjects are viewed as specific corporations of a private law character which are pri­marily founded for the purposes of fulfilling the right to express one's religion or faith either individually or in connection with others as it is determined in the Constitution. The conclusion of the article pays atten­tion to the changes that are now being prepared that aim towards lowering the current census the purpose of which should be making registration of churches and religious organizations of a smaller number of mem­bers possible.
