Summary/Abstract: The paper provides a brief overview of the history of the LGBTQIA community programs in Australian museums towards the end of the 20th century. In 1995 the GLAMA group (Gay and Lesbian Alliance of Museums Australia) created the Gay & Lesbian Policy Guidelines for Museum Programs and Practice, in order to encourage local museums to include in their programs cultural heritage of the LGBTQIA groups. The article presents the summary of major recommendations included in this policy.
