Summary/Abstract: The study deals with environmental journalism as a separate branch of professional journalism based on close cooperation with science and its knowledge. It explains where professional environmental journalism originated from, what it contains, as well as answers the question of whether it is still the cool job it seemed to be at the end of the last century, or if it is associated with danger, threatening health or even lives of journalistic professionals who take the environment seriously in their journalistic coverage. In the final part, the text focuses on sketching the parallels and connections between environmental journalism and media coverage of the current global pandemic caused by the new coronavirus COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2).
