Summary/Abstract: The essay concerns the early and little known book by Margarete Susman "Vom Sinn der Liebe" [On the Meaning of Love] (1912) which can be considered a poetic-philosophical attempt to overcome the nihilism of the beginning of the 20th century. The purpose is a presentation of the book in its main assumptions in order to facilitate its analysis, interpretation and reception as well as to put it into the context of literary history and philosophy.
