Summary/Abstract: Following a brief schematic presentation of the police cooperation on fighting criminality and terrorism in the European Union, serious threats against human rights, the author analyzes the Treaty of Prum. Inclusion of the provisions thereof in the communitarian legislation is one objective of the German Presidency of the EU. The EU States will be able to automatically give mutual access to their national specific databases, thus achieving a substantial improvement of the exchange of information procedures. The Treaty of Prum also has an operational component, providing for a number of operations that may be jointly conducted by the police forces of the States interested in a certain case.
