Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the objectives and the results of an European project of course-related German classes that culminated with the editing in 2009 of the course book „Mit Deutsch in Europa -studieren -arbeiten –leben /SDU, Niveau A2-B1“ (To Study-Work-Live with German in Europe/Level A2-B1) but also left -from the view point of the Romanian learner- a few open questions. The paper analyzes, among others, the Bologna-demands and terms of reference included in the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages" and in „Profile Deutsch“, and, on the other hand, the concept of competences and the various development of the competences, as well as aspects regarding language acquisition and language awareness in a course book or language training materials.
