Summary/Abstract: The history and evolution of architecture subsumes a variety of forms, attributes and functionalities, developing two manners of building – vertically and horizontally. In any human realization, spirituality holds an important part in the cultural field. The spiritual domain includes magical, religious, mythological and artistic factors, which reflect upon beliefs, customs, traditions, affectivity and the way of thinking and living. Verticality represents the axis of aspiration, ascension and conquers of the telluric condition, whereas the horizontal symbolizes expansion and breadth. The two fundamental coordinates are complementary, ensuring the necessary equilibrium for man`s existence.
