Summary/Abstract: By his biological and economical work, expressed through scientifical articles and monographies and by institutions founded by him, which are working either nowdays, Grigore Antipa remains immortal. He was contemporary and good friend with another famous Romanian naturalist, Emil Racoviţă, the founder of a new science, Biospeleology, and of the first Institute of Speleology in the world. Grigore Antipa initiated the Romanian Hydrobiology and Ichthyology and he organized, on scientific basis, the State Fisheries. But his fame came from the organizing, on ecological basis, of the National Museum of Natural History, from Bucharest, which carries his name. He enriched his museum with the dioramas imagined by him, taken afterwards like models by several worldwide museums. There is no student in Romania who has not gone to Bucharest in trips organized by school in order to see, first of all, the Antipa museum. The greatest naturalist has fought, like no other, to highlight the richness of the his country waters, especially the ones of the Danube with her wonderful delta and the lakes from the flooding zone of the river. He firmly believed that this complex ecosystem, partially in its natural state, was an important wet zone of the planet, which had to be protected until it was too late (see Antipa – 1910, Negrea & Negrea, 1975 ; Negrea, 1990). It could not be otherwise, Antipa being a brilliant disciple of Ernst Haeckel, the founder of Ecology, who distinguished him with Summa cum Laude, rank assigned by the greatest darwinist professor only three times in his career.
