Summary/Abstract: Professor Z. Sokolewicz (1932-2020) was a humanist with broad research interests (ethnology, cultural anthropology, human rights, European studies etc.) and with extraordinary organisational talent. Her involvement in matters related to museology was one of her many activities. The text discusses matters related to this subject, among others, using as an ex- ample the activity of professor Cezaria Jędrzejewiczowa, the author of the concept of the ethnographic museum theory. On the basis of an archival research query, Zofia Sokolewicz made an attempt to reconstruct Cezaria Jędrzejewiczowa’s museological views. Z. Sokolewicz was the initiator and patron of the University of Warsaw Museum, which was established as a result of a grassroots ethnographic community initiative (together with M. Pokropek) in the early 1980s. The article discusses her long-term cooperation with the National Ethnographic Museum in Warsaw, which had always been a subject of her concern and interest, from the substantive issues to the daily functioning of this institution. She cared deeply to use the competences and expertise of the museum staff. In the article’s conclusion professor Sokolewicz’s role in the creation of ZWAM magazine is described.
