Jurisdictional Issues in Cyber Space

Summary/Abstract: There has been a shift with cyber space now being a necessity in everyday life rather than a luxury. With the unprecedented growth of the use and application of internet, there is an ever growing and urgent need for a proper framework of laws over the newly evolved cyberspace. The aspect of jurisdiction is of pivotal importance as in the absence of a proper framework; all cyber laws enacted would be meaningless. With this background in mind, this paper tries to analyze the various theories adopted worldwide for jurisdictional issues in cyber space and how still a worldwide consensus on this issue has not yet evolved.
