One's Life's Values and Creed – the Driving Force behind the Scientific Work and Decisions of Transylvanian Scientist Ştefan Manciulea

Summary/Abstract: This study presents the contribution of the Transylvanian scholar Ştefan Manciulea to the enrichment of geography, history, geology, historical demography and culture and focuses on the analysis of motivational factors and values that have led his decisions, guided his life, scientific work and teaching career. His tragic destiny dominated by boundless trust in truth, justice, in the political rights of its people, has resulted, on the one hand, into a work of high scientific probity, as useful as it is today, and furthermore, during the totalitarian regime, in a model of upper human dignity, the ardent patriotism for future generations.
