Summary/Abstract: The new television streaming revolution brought a new format to documentary films, the true crime docu-series. Directed by Mark Lewis, Don’t f ** k with cats: Hunting an Internet-Killer (2019) has been ranked among Netflix’s five most viewed document series. The three-part true crime documentary film series, distributed by Netflix, presents with remarkable effectiveness the real story of a cold-blooded Canadian killer in the context of the media space dominated by digital technologies. The present study explores the connection between new television genres and streaming culture, addressing concepts that are included in today’s media discourse, such as online reputation, fake news, and media consumer responsibility. The second part of the text discusses the history of the investigation, character representation and the creation of the intermedial background.
