Summary/Abstract: In Vol. 7, no. 1 of EEPS, Anto Knežević mounts a captious assault on a short comment that I had published in Vol. 6, no. 2. Critical commentary in a journal on an article published in it previously is common practice in American scholarship. However, a twelve-page comment on a six-page article is unusual, to say the least. Even more unusual is the fact that the editor of EEPS did not send me a copy of Knežević's manuscript and invite a response to it. Thus my reply to my critic appears months after that piece saw print. Had the editor encouraged that author to engage me in a normal scholarly debate about any points in my brief comment, I would gladly have done so, as indeed I have responded to Knežević's criticism of an article in a different journal.
