Summary/Abstract: The present study focuses on a comparative analysis between two metonymies, namely INSTRUMENT INVOLVED FOR THE ACTION and ACTION FOR THE RESULT. These metonymies are part of Evans and Green’s (2006) categorization where they are described as cases of „part-to-part” metonymic relationship which is mainly characterized by the domain ACTION which involves INSTRUMENTS, AN AGENT, A PATIENT, A RESULT etc. The research aims at qualitatively determining the instances of occurrence of the two metonymies separately and in comparison and to perform a subsequent qualitative analysis attempting to discover patterns of dependencies which would provide more information on the mechanisms of formation and the motivation for the employment of these expressions in the given genre.
