Summary/Abstract: The article describes the political and social conditions in South Korea from the mid-1960s and the period of the military dictatorship. It was also a time of industrialization and civilization development of the country, and along with the modernization trends, new forms of art appeared. They have been adapted to express social tensions related to the country's development. The new art took conceptual, action, happening forms. The history of the struggle and overcoming the military dictatorship and the non-democratic regime is related to the development of modern art. And what should be emphasized is its most progressive, artistically radical forms of expression.
