MANAGEMENT AND TEACHING COMPETENCES OF SCHOOL MANAGER AND TEACHERS FOR STUDENTS FROM DIFFERENT COUNTRIES (CULTURES)

Summary/Abstract: With this study, it is expected that education administrators and teachers' awareness will be increased by identifying the culturally sensitive school management competencies of school principals and teachers' instructional competencies in order to help immigrant students to adapt to the education system in schools and classrooms where students from different countries (cultures) are present. The study group of this research consists of 22 principals, assistant principals and teachers working in different schools of different types and levels in 2018-2019 academic year in Altındağ and Mamak districts of Ankara and Gaziantep Şahinbey and Şehitkâmil districts. Sampling technique was used to provide maximum diversity among purposeful sampling methods in determining the study group. The interview form was applied to 22 principals, deputy principals and teachers who worked in primary schools in Altındağ and Mamak districts of Ankara and Gaziantep Şahinbey and Şehitkâmil districts and accepted voluntarily to participate in the study. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively and then evaluated according to the context in which they gained meaning. While analyzing the data, opinions about each question were divided into themes, frequencies related to prominent themes were determined and typical expressions were transferred and interpreted.
