Summary/Abstract: Mircea Eliade is ‘the last Romanian intellectual of vast creative surfaces’. His spiritual and intellectual formation, particularly as historian and phenomenologist of the history of religions, but also as publicist, essayist, folklorist or lecturer is par excellence encyclopaedic and adapted to modernity. Paradoxically, Mircea Eliade constantly connected to somewhat contradictory models such as Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu and Nae Ionescu. Nonetheless what brings the two above-mentioned models together is that eternal ‘impatience of creation’, which has always haunted Mircea Eliade too. ‘The impatience of creation’ is transposed ‘so vividly’ and ‘anxiously’ in the series of pamphlets published in the Bucharest daily "Cuvântul" [‘The Word’], published under the title ‘Spiritual Itinerary’, a true manifesto of ‘the Young Generation" from 1927-1930. We dwelled on this ‘time of creation’ because it is illustrated (‘experienced’) both in the essay and in the novel, in the ‘theoretical’ pages, as well as in journalism.
