Summary/Abstract: Though air transportation is younger with respect to other modes of transportation, its utilization has increased rapidly during recent years. Turkey’s air transportation made significant progress in parallel with worldwide trends. In 2010 air freight volume used to be 2 million tons and grew nearly twice by 2019, exceeding 4 million tons. Air freight traffic and foreign trade data has been analyzed along with economic and political risks during 2012-2019 for Turkey. It is observed that foreign trade has no direct effect on air freight traffic, whereas fluctuations in exchange rate do influence air freight transport significantly. From analysis of data it is concluded that both economic crises and political risks with direct influence on economic activities affect air freight transport.
