Summary/Abstract: The author discusses the position of the Standard Croatian in the globalization conditions. He points out that Croatian has been standardized for over a century according to very clear principles of normalization, that it is autonomous, poli-functional and stable. It is also specific in that it had no stare support but it was formed by the will and efforts of its users and creative writers.
