Summary/Abstract: The Quran was tried to be understood by its interlocutor since the day it was sent down. For this purpose, different methods used in every period have been the basic tools of understanding the Quran. Our method of study, on the other hand, sets an example for chronological researches that try to reveal what happened in the past, to illuminate the words spoken and the events that took place by investigating at the Quran from its context. The word ilm chosen for this purpose was examined chronologically during the Mecca period, trying to reconcile the verse process with the revelation, and the mentioned word was analyzed based on its original context of the Mecca period. Chronological analysis of the word ilm provided great convenience in understanding its etymological meanings as well as understanding the function of the word during the invitation process. Our analysis in line with this method covers a period between 1 and 5.5 years of the Makkah process of the invitation. This process, which covers the first years of the invitation, consists of three main stages. These three stages, which we call the first Mecca period, also represent a process in which the basic subjects of the Quran are completed.
