Summary/Abstract: This paper briefly presents the life of Prof. Acad. Gleb Dragan (1920–2014), renowned author in the field of elec trical engineering, personality of the technical and scientific life of Romania. One describes the teaching activity, mostly held in Bucharest Polytechnic Institute (now Politehnica University of Bucharest), where he led many years, as a dean, the Faculty of Power Engineering. Professor Gleb Dragan was head of the department of Electrical Networks and he founded the Laboratory of High Voltage Engineering, one of the largest labo ratories of that kind in Europe. The paper describes the activity of Prof. Gleb Dragan at the Romanian Academy, starting from his election as a correspondent member in 1991 up to becoming full member in 2004, and his election as Chairman of the Section of Technical Sciences. There have been also mentioned the pub lishing activity of Acad. Gleb Dragan and his contributions to Romania’s industrial development. One reminds the connec tions that Prof. Gleb Dragan, who was born in Basarabia, kept throughout his life with Republic of Moldova.
